In the pre-2005 days before thriftmac, there was free for X — my original collection of “the very best Mac freeware for OS X”.
Back in those simpler days, all you had to do to build a website was to create a bunch of HTML pages in a folder and upload them to a server.
While looking for some other files, I found that old folder and did just that. And now you can check it out.
Be warned that very few links work. And of those that do, many point to something unrelated. I’m pretty sure none of them will lead you to anything harmful, but it wouldn’t hurt to be careful.
I am struck by the fact that the link for NetNewsWire still works. And after all these years, it remains one of the best RSS readers you can get.
Yes, there used to be a games section. The number of free games has grown exponentially and it became impossible for me to keep up with them all.
